1331-For the past 250 years, the Zartinians’ society has changed somewhat. Combat and strength is still valued highly, but justice and lawfulness has been stressed even more, evolving after a period of time where the Zartinian race was unfairly blamed for a war that ended up being revealed to be caused by the Manlin. The Manlin race is now hated by the Zartinians more than any other race; surprisingly their biggest allies are the humans of Calica. The lands of Zartinia were increased in size after the War of Nations, since the Meadowlands were taken over in leadership by the dual nations of Calica and Zartinia. Many halflings live now begrudgingly live in Zartinia. Much of the change in spirit from Zartinia’s former brutality comes from their new leader, Pavlam Tarlok, the High Tribunal, whom is said to be the most just leader in all of Nevermore-so much so that many of the other countries of Nevermore will send their most difficult cases to the capitol of the Zartinia to hear and abide by Tarlok’s judgement. Because of this, many paladins, monks, fighters and some fighter-like eladrin are drawn to the cities of Zartinia.
1081-Home to the war-like race of humanoids, Zartinians, who train for combat from a young age, very similar to Spartans. Zartinians tend to be predatory in nature, often seeking a dominant position in social culture. They are generally cunning and suspicious. In Zartinian criminal trials the defendant is presumed guilty and in fact the punishment is already decided before the trial begins; the purpose of the trial (effectively a show trial) is merely to help the defendant acknowledge his wrongdoing. Zartinians and humans have had a long past history in wars in Nevermore due to the close proximity of Calica and Zaritnia, and the halflings have paid the price due to their constant warfare.
