1331-Since the Manlin, the drow, and the Undead forces of the armies of Ison’t ravaged the tiny nation of Sternberg during the War of Nations, the city state has seen their lands shrink away to a fraction of its former self. Sh’rayas was quick to pounce on the weakness of his neighbor, and expanded the Empire of the Shifting Sands into the fisher folks’ territory. Sternberg, never a wealthy nation, hoped to seek the assistance of Sohma-but with the elves now in charge, the mostly human territory never got quite enough financial assistance from their former friends to get back on their feet. Instead, they turned to a riskier alternative and find new alliances with the pirates of the Sian Republic. Add to the fact that strange earthquakes have now cut a literal rift between Sohma and Sternberg, the once fast friendly nations find their diplomacy in a rough patch. What was once an area of friendly fisher folk has now become a den of pickpockets and rogues, where the seedier transactions occur on the mainland of Nevermore. Some honest folk remain, but they are becoming harder and harder to find. Humans, barbarians, half-orc, and other scoundrel types are drawn to this corner of the continent.
The tiny country of Sternberg is almost more like a giant port rather than a country. Many ships in the community are docked together, and together they form more of a floating town. Most of the civilians are laid back and do not care for the internal politics of Nevermore, they greatly rely on the buffer of the surrounding country of Sohma to guard them. The government is a loose democracy/socialist society where the community trades, works, and shares the wealth equally by their hardworking citizens, who are generally more well off than other communities due to a strong economy. Kisara and Logg Raftfleet are generally in charge if any hard decisions need to be made.
